Warner to make CPL debut after signing with St Lucia Stars

Disgraced Warner playing a reverse sweep at his comeback match in brisbane

Banned Australian cricketer David Warner, who is now serving a one-year suspension for his role in ball-tampering scandal, is all set to make his first appearance in the Caribbean Premier League as he has signed a deal with St Lucia for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Warner, along with former skipper Steve Smith, was handed a one-year ban from both domestic and worldwide cricket while bowler Cameron Bancroft was given a suspension of nine months for their involvement in ball-tampering scandal that took place during the third Test of the four-match series against South Africa in March this year.

This is Warner's second signing in a T20 League following the ball-tampering episode in South Africa in March, which resulted in him - along with Steven Smith and Cameron Bancroft - getting penalised with a 12-month suspension by Cricket Australia.

The team has called up Warner to replace fellow Australian big-hitter D'Arcy Short.

Earlier this month, the southpaw was confirmed to be a part of the Winnipeg Hawks in the soon-to-begin Global T20 Canada League. After playing in Canada, he will return to Australia for the Darwin Strike League in July.
