Erdogan Warns Iran, Russia Against ‘Lake of Blood’

Erdogan said it is crucial to maintain Idlib's current status and argued the U.S. offers support to "terrorist groups" in Syria.

The presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey will meet in Tehran to discuss the war in Syria, with all eyes on a possible military offensive to retake the last rebel-held bastion of Idlib.

A member of the Syrian Civil Defense, also known as the White Helmets, searches through the wreckage of their center, which was destroyed by government forces in the town of al-Tamana on the southern edges of the rebel-held Idlib province, September 6, 2018.

Four people were killed and five wounded in the strikes, the White Helmets said on Twitter, also posting images it said were from the attack.

Faysal al-Antar, a member of the local council in Kfar Zita, one of the towns on the southern edge of Idlib that was hit in the airstrikes, said warplanes were flying as the leaders convened Friday in Tehran.

Women and children ran terrified across nearby fields, one woman appearing to clutch a baby in a blanket.

Black said the Syrian government provided his lodging in Damascus, as well as an interpreter and ground transportation between Beirut and Damascus.

China's exports, imports slowed sharply in August
The White House has accused China of stealing US intellectual property and forcing American companies to share their technology with Chinese companies. "We want lower (trade) barriers across the board".

"That [Idlib attack] would lead to a humanitarian wave adding to existing refugees, but because of the nature with Idlib, some of these refugees would be people associated with jihadist groups", said political analyst Sinan Ulgen, head of the Istanbul-based Edam research institution.

The presidents of Turkey, Iran and Russian Federation on Friday failed to agree on a ceasefire that would forestall a Syrian government offensive in the militant-held Idlib province.

The communique also called on the United Nations and the worldwide community to step up humanitarian aid to Syria and help in restoring basic infrastructure assets.

In remarks at the start of the meeting, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani demanded that American forces immediately withdraw from Syria if lasting peace is to be achieved.

But regime backers Russian Federation and Iran have sworn to wipe out "terrorists" and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has declared his determination to retake control of the entire country.

"Idlib's fate should be decided by its people".

"Russia is reminding Turkey it needs to stay in Russia's good graces if Turkey wants to avoid a painful catastrophe in north-west Syria", Mr Heras told Agence France-Presse.

US, India Ink Deal to Expand Defense Ties
The move is expected to further facilitate India-US trade and technology collaboration in defence and high technology areas. The US has signed similar pacts with less than 30 other countries, the report added, citing a senior US defence official.

Idlib's provincial health chief Munzer al-Khalil warned Saturday that a large-scale military operation could result in "the most catastrophic crisis in our war".

Elsewhere on Saturday, clashes between Kurdish forces and regime fighters in the divided northeastern city of Qamishli killed 18 combatants, the Kurdish forces and the Observatory said.

Kurdish security forces, known as Asayish, said that a government patrol entered the areas controlled by the Kurdish militia in Qamishli and began arresting civilians, then shot at a Kurdish checkpoint, sparking the gun battle.

"From the day that it was clear there could be an attack on Idlib, we have been working hard to prevent the regime violating the ceasefire and to stop the attacks on Idlib", Cavusoglu said.

"When they did not comply, the shooting started on the auto", Abdel Rahman said.

"The problem is not only Russian and regime jets hovering about", said Omar, 53, a barber in the province.

There was a "a new commitment" by the administration to remain in Syria until Islamic State militants were defeated, while ensuring Iran left the country, he added.
