The Dragon Trip Entry 2: Hong Kong and in transit to Yangshou

Victoria Peak Lookout

I apologize in advance I am using my phone to type this entry!

This morning we were up bright and early for our morning meeting for our very first leg of The Dragon Trip Tour China! Last night we stayed at the Yes Inn as this was our early morning meeting point. Just before 7am we went down to the lobby. There we checked out and we met Evan our first Adventure Leader and the first lot of the tour group. Everyone from all over the world; Canada, England, Ireland and us of course from Australia. At 7am on the dot we all went down to the private bus to take us to Victoria Peak for our pre-tour briefing. We arrived at the tram stop to catch up to the peak. It was so steep thank goodness for the tram! Sevet; our 2nd Adventure Leader, briefed us at the peak and handed out the dragon trip booklets full of helpful info about our itinerary options, some Mandarin vocab and some useful phone numbers and maps. Here we also had our first Mandarin lesson from Evan all about numbers! I was 9 which was “Jiou”. After this we explored
around the peak and had somebreakfast.

After descending the peak in the private bus we picked up the last person on our tour from the hostel and away we went to the metro station to make out way to our first train. After some interesting experiences such as using a chip (like a casino chip) as a ticket we said goodbye to Sevet and Evan as we boarded the Bullet train to Guilinbei Station. When we arrived we met Mulan, our next adventure leader, who took us to Yangshou!

Finally after 12 hours in transit, from leaving the peak to arriving at Yangshou, we settled in to our new hostel 131 hostel. For dinner we had a wide variety of stir friend veggies and meat dishes (I tried the tofu as I’ve decided to go vegetarian while in China). Everything was delicious.

amazing Yangshou

Tomorrow we get a chance to go to Moon Hill and hop in the mud baths inside the caves! Hear more about that in entry 3.
